Here's how to unbox your mattress-in-a-box
Before You Start:
-
Choose the Location: Select a room where you plan to use the mattress. It should be a flat, stable surface (like a solid bed frame or the floor) with enough space to fully expand the mattress.
-
Prepare the Area: Clear any obstacles or sharp objects that could potentially damage the mattress during unboxing.
-
Gather Tools: You need scissors or a cutting tool to open the box.
Unboxing Steps:
1. Bring the Box to the Room: Transport the box to your chosen room. It's easier to unbox the mattress directly where you intend to use it.
2. Open the Box: Carefully cut through the tape or plastic straps holding the box closed. Use caution to avoid damaging the mattress inside
3. Remove Packaging: Once the box is open, gently slide the mattress out. The mattresses come tightly rolled and compressed.
4. Position the Mattress: Place the rolled mattress on your chosen surface.
5. Unroll the Mattress: Follow the instruction manual included in the box for unrolling the mattress. Doing this carefully is important to avoid sudden unfolding or damaging the mattress fabric.
6. Cut Away Plastic: The mattresses are vacuum-sealed in plastic. Use scissors to carefully cut through the plastic wrapping. Be cautious not to cut into the mattress fabric.
7. Allow Expansion: Once the plastic is cut, open the zip on the detachable mattress cover and the mattress will start to expand. This process can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the mattress type. We recommend allowing 48 hours for the mattress to fully expand.
8. Let It Air Out: Let the mattress air out in a well-ventilated room.
9. Make the Bed: Once fully expanded, your mattress is ready to use! Place your sheets and bedding on the mattress and enjoy your new bed.
Tips:
Patience: Allow the mattress to expand fully before using it to ensure it reaches its intended size and shape.
Once the mattress has mostly expanded, check each corner to see if any are still a bit flat.
To help the corners fully expand, lift each corner of the mattress and gently shake it. Hold the top edge of the mattress while you do this to keep it steady.
You might need to do this a few times for any corners that still need to expand fully.
In colder areas, the mattress may take longer to fully expand. To speed up this process you can use a warm air source like a blow dryer.
Hold the blow dryer a few inches away from the mattress surface and move it back and forth gently. Be careful not to overheat or damage the mattress fabric. This can help the mattress expand quickly and evenly in cooler temperatures.
Safety: Take care when using tools to avoid injury or damaging the mattress.
